Winner of Best "Impossible" Hack, HackMIT 2018
We used a portable EEG (brain activity monitor) to objectively measure a wearer's response to shown media. The project aimed to objectify an audience member's response to a commercial to eliminate internal cognitive biases, allowing valuable insight to marketing teams.
In order to collect data, we used a Mindflex toy, a game that uses a NeuroSky EEG chip. We soldered leads onto the NeuroSky chip to read its raw serial output, and passed the resulting waveform through MATLAB to get wave comparison and magnitude similarity indexes.
This project won the "Best 'Impossible' Hack" sponsor award, given by PearVC, at HackMIT 2018.
